The Chin National Front (CNF) met with civilians, religious leaders and Chin politicians following the 2nd Union level peace talks in Rangoon. The public meeting that took place at the Myanmar Institute Theological Hall on Dec.12 was intended to clarify the 27-points the rebel group signed with the government during the peace talks that took place from Dec.7-9.
CNF Secretary General Pu Zing Cung and Supreme Council members; Pu Salai Kipp Kho Lian and Pu Thomas Thangnou, spoke during the meeting. Secretary of the Chin Progressive Party Pu Dai Thung welcomed the agreement to have Chin National Day included as a recognized holiday.
The CNF’s peace talk delegation also met with U Ko Ko Kyi, U Htay Kywe and Ko Jimmy from 88 Generation student group the same day. Secretary General-1 Pu Paul Sitha said he would “warmly welcome” a trip by 88 Generation students to Chin state. The CNF’s peace talk delegation met with leaders from United Nationalities League for Democracy and staff from various foreign embassies in Rangoon.
