Two Burmese soldiers were killed in their barrack after more then 20 rounds were fired in the military base of Three Pagoda Pass last night.
One communication corporal and a soldier of the Infantry Battalion (IB) No 34 were killed. The corporal was shot in the back and the soldier was shot on the forehead. IB No-34 was from under Western Command based in Arakan State .
The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. while the battalion commander Lt.Col Aye Ko Ko was in town.
According to sources close to the troops who were on patrol duty near the barrack, the corporal was first shot by the soldier. After which the commander Lt. Col Aye Ko Ko shot the soldier who killed the corporal, sources claimed.
According to a source, the corporal beat the soldier for aggressive behaviour with other soldiers after he got drunk.
Military officers said they will burry the two dead soldiers this evening and asked the ceasefire members in the town to attend the funeral.
The Light Infantry Battalion No.34 moved from Military West-South Regional Command and it reached Three Pagoda Pass two weeks ago.
