The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) pledged that when a federal democratic union is eventually established, it will strive to create a federal unit (state) there that genuinely represents the Mon ethnic people.
The MSFC issued this statement in a message commemorating the 77th Mon Revolution Day on August 19.
The MSFC also extended congratulations to fellow ethnic resistance forces in northern Myanmar and Arakan (Rakhine) State for their series of military victories, including the capture of towns.
The MSFC will actively engage in revolutionary movements against all forms of dictatorship, and call on the Mon people, who have a proud history and tradition, to join these efforts, the statement added.
The Mon State Interim Coordinating Committee (MSICC) was reorganized into the MSFC in early 2023 to strengthen its capabilities in achieving the goal of establishing a federal unit that will effectively represent the Mon people in the future federal democratic union.
In addition, the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), the armed wing of the MSFC, is actively combating the junta in cooperation with other resistance forces.
Furthermore, the MSFC has appointed three ministers to the National Unity Government (NUG) and three representatives to the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).
