Teknaf, Bangladesh: A Burmese refugee woman was raped by a local youth on June 3, at around 4 p.m. while on her way to a stream to fetch drinking water. Only 40 days ago she gave birth to a baby.

The victim was identified as Noor Banu (25), (not real name), wife of Noor Hussain of Dum Dum Mea makeshift camp, or Tal under Teknaf union, Cox's Bazaar district, said Ayoub Majee (shed leader) from the Tal.
 
The rapist was identified as Sayedullah (22), son of Salamat Ullah, hailing from Dum Dum Mea village of Teknaf union.
 
The victim went to a stream about two furlongs from the camp in the forests. When she was filling her pot with water the local youth Sayedullah appeared from hiding and grabbed Noor Banu. On hearing her cries people working nearby rushed to the spot and saw her lying on the ground. The culprit managed to flee, he more added.
 
The culprit Sayeddullah was said to have committed five rapes.  He is notorious among makeshift refugees. Refugees informed Teknaf Camp-in-Charge Jashim Uddin about the incident. The OC pressurized the father of the rapist to hand him over to the police station. His father handed his son over to the police the same day, said a worker from land port.
 
He has been detained in the Teknaf police station.
 
Five rape cases have occurred in the area in the recent past when the girls or women went to fetch drinking water from the stream.
