Junta Airstrike Bombs Rural Healthcare Centre in Kyauktaw

Junta aircraft bombed the rural healthcare centre in Wea Gyi Daunt village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, around 1:00 am on May 15, injuring about 15 people.

The rural healthcare centre endured two rounds of aerial bombardments, resulting in injuries to people and damage to the building.

"While there were no fatal casualties, the number of injured individuals is quite high, including healthcare workers and patients. A nearby horse was killed during the attacks”, a Wea Gyi Daunt villager said. Several individuals sustained serious injuries in the bombing and are presently receiving emergency medical care.

Residents reported that Junta aircraft targeted not only the Wea Gyi Daunt healthcare centre, but also the neighboring villages of Kyarnyoinn and Lanmadaw.

In Rakhine State, the Junta's airstrikes on residential areas and healthcare facilities are hindering people's access to medical treatment.

On February 27, a Junta fighter jet attacked Minphu Cottage Hospital in Minbya Township, completely destroying the facility and causing injuries to several civilians.

"Targeting clinics and hospitals where victims of airstrikes seek medical care is like killing them twice”, a Rakhine social activist said.

In response to setbacks caused by the Arakha Army (AA)'s offensives in Rakhine State, the Junta is retaliating by targeting towns and villages, resulting in civilian casualties.
