Mr. Oliver, a senior member of the Myanmar Chefs’Association, said their donation is meant for supplying to the hospitals in unrest-torn Arakan State.

Mr. Oliver and his wife Daw Khet Khet under the supervision of the Assistant Abbot of the Alodawpyiy Monastery, Ven. Uzin Beloo, travelled to Sittwe and donated the equipment on 15th of September.

U Hla Maung Tin, the Chief Minister of Arakan State, is said to have received the donation that included 81 beds and 48 closets for the hospitals in the areas affected by the recent unrest by holding a ceremony in Sittwe.

The Myanmar Chefs’ Association is said to have received many hospital beds and closets from well-wishers in Germany in order to donate them to the hospitals in Burma and donated some of them to the hospitals in riot-torn Arakan State.

“Our association has made this donation because the hospitals in Arakan State are greatly in need of international-standard equipment. We are very proud of our donation hoping that they will be very useful for the patients coming to the hospitals. We are also planning further donations”, said Mr. Oliver.

He also wished sustainable stability and peace for the people in Arakan State.

“We want the situation in Arakan State to become totally calm and peaceful and wish that all people in the region are happy and healthy, and sleep well every night”, he said.

Ven. U Kumara, the Coordinator of the Alodawpyiy Relief Committee, said the donated equipment will be handed over to the hospitals in Rathedaung, Buthidaung and Maungdaw Townships that were hit hard by the violent unrest.
