In Kawt Bein village, Kawkareik township, Karen State, a 2-day armed attack ended on March 25th, leaving a number of injured and many people displaced. The fighting began around 8:00 a.m. on March 24th when joint revolutionary forces attacked the police station in the Kawt Bein area.
Three local villagers from Kawt Bein and one from Dhammasa were injured by weapons fired by the military junta forces on the ground and weapons fired from a warship. The injured are currently receiving treatment.
Local residents of Kawtpauk, Dhammasa, Taranar and surrounding areas fled to Khayar (Ahpyin) village outside of Kawt Bein village.
Currently, in Khayar (Ahpyin) village, preparations are underway to accommodate the increasing number of people fleeing the war, reported one individual providing assistance.
He added that most of those displaced want to relocate to Mawlamyine and other townships. Efforts are being made to escort them to their desired destinations.
Military junta forces inside the Kawbein Police Station displayed a white flag following the attack by the Revolutionary Joint Forces, who have now gained control over the area. It is believed that the Revolutionary Joint Forces announced their intention to continue their attacks in the direction of Taranar village, although this has not yet been independently confirmed.
