Some Chin leaders’ names removed from blacklist

Certain Chin leaders are among the 1,147 names removed from Burma’s blacklist by the office of President Thein Sein on 30 August.

Dr. Salai Tun Than, Salai Bawi Lian Mang, the Director of Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO), Salai Za Uk Ling from CHRO, Salai Za Ceu Lian, and Pu Thang Ning Kee, Supreme Council member of Chin National Front, were deleted from the list maintained by Burma’s former military junta.

Other Chin ethnic people removed were:

The government did not mention the people’s nationalities in the release, and some Chin leaders have yet to be removed.

On 30 August, The Irrawaddy reported that the list included Burmese dissidents, foreign activists, journalists, historians, UN staff, and the sons of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Khonumthung news
