On December 20th, the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) declared its complete control over Namhkam Township in northern Shan State, including the strategically significant Sakhanthit Hill base where the Military Council had been firmly stationed.

The TNLA added that their relentless offensive from November 17th to December 18th, spanning 31 days, culminated in the successful capture of Namhkam.

They not only seized the Sakhanthit Hill base but, also gained control over strategic locations, including Kankaw, 12-Mile, 13-Mile, Microwave, Panghsay, Tarkwunt, Heyai, Mongwee, Hteingan, Manpu, and Manwein military outposts surrounding Namhkam, along with the township police station and administrative offices, all under the command of the Military Council.

Prior to the TNLA's takeover, Namhkam hosted approximately 900 Juna troops , including the  261st Infantry Battalion, as well as the 423rd, 426th, 425th, and 143rd Light Infantry Battalions, under the No. 7 Operations Command, along with additional units from columns under the Regional Command.

During TNLA's offensive to seize Namhkam, the Military Council indiscriminately attacked civilian areas, killing 13 locals, including 3 children, and injuring 43 individuals. Furthermore, many religious structures, a hospital, and houses were destroyed by the regime’s shelling.

Following the conflict, TNLA reported the discovery of numerous enemy casualties, including a Major-ranked officer, and confirmed the capture of three Military Council troops as prisoners of war. However, the endeavor to secure Namhkam exacted a heavy toll on TNLA, with 49 comrades sacrificing their lives and 145 sustaining injuries.
