228 Individuals Relocated, Including UN and INGO Staff, Along with Family Members from Loikaw Township Amid Conflict

The National Unity Government (NUG) and the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) jointly announced that 228 individuals, including personnel from United Nations Organizations (UN) and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGO), along with their family members, have been relocated to safety in Taunggyi Township in Shan State on November 18th.

U Banyar, 2nd secretary of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC), mentioned that discussions were held with the Karenni Revolution Union (KRU), Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC), and National Unity Government (NUG) to facilitate the relocation.

On November 15, they were evacuated using 33 vehicles. The joint statement emphasized the importance of the Junta accepting the need for safe evacuation, of those remaining in the war zone of the current Loikaw urban area.

The 35,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) also require basic necessities like food, medicine, and shelter. Therefore, a joint statement is urging practical implementation of the cross-border plan by the United Nations (UN) and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs).
