KIO/KIA Control Five Military Council Outposts in a Single Month

Colonel Naw Bu, the spokesperson for the Kachin Independence Organization/Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA), reported the successful capture of at least five outposts belonging to the Military Council within the past month.

From mid-October to mid-November, KIO/KIA consistently captured outposts belonging to the Military Council.

On October 18th, KIA fighters conducted a raid on an outpost housing troops from the 602nd Light Infantry Battalion and 56th Infantry Battalion of the Military Council in Ngarbatgyi village, Shwegu Township, Kachin State. Subsequently, the outpost was abandoned as the Military Council refrained from redeploying due to the perceived threat.

Also, on October 19th, KIA successfully seized the Yinla Hill outpost in northern Shan State, which housed troops from the Military Council's 567th Light Infantry Battalion. The following day, the Aungjar outpost on the Myitkyina-Bhamo Road also came under KIA control. Moreover, on October 30th, the 8th Battalion, part of the KIA 4th Brigade operating in northern Shan State, achieved the capture of the Monemaw outpost located in Namhai.

Furthermore, on October 31st, KIA launched an attack on the Kantawyang outpost of the Military Council, located near Namsanyang village in close proximity to the KIO/KIA headquarters. Following intense gunfights lasting around two hours, KIA successfully captured the entire outpost.

During the second week of November, KIA’s 6th Brigade and 9th Battalion successfully seized control of the Dak Nai outpost in northern Shan State.

"We captured Aungjar and Kantawyang outposts. The 4th Brigade also took control of an outpost at Monemaw. The 6th Brigade and 9th Battalion captured another at Dak Nai. The 3rd Brigade also succeeded in capturing one at Ngarbatgyi. Currently, we can confirm five of them”, Colonel Naw Bu said.

KIA is engaged in operations not only within Kachin State but also forges connections with resistance forces in Sagaing Region. Furthermore, they are conducting offensives to capture outposts in northern Shan State.
