The Shwegu-based Kachin People's Defense Force (K-PDF) conducted two drone attacks on the Myoma (Township-level) police station, operating under the authority of the Military Council in Shwegu, Kachin State, a K-PDF official said.
He confirmed that the Myoma police station in Shwegu's No.4 ward was subjected to drone bombings twice: once in the morning of September 3rd and another around 7:00 AM on the same day by members of the 5th battalion of the Shwegu K-PDF.
"Having embraced the path of revolution, we will take actions to undermine them, launching attacks on their positions”, he told KNG.
Following the drone attack by K-PDF, police and soldiers temporarily closed off roads in the vicinity of the Myoma police station. They proceeded to conduct hour-long interrogations of pedestrians in select areas of the town.
"Right after the incident, the road in front of the police station was blocked, and there were thorough checks at various spots in town. Now, locals can pass by the police station regularly”, a Shwegu resident said.
Since June, there have been frequent targeted attacks on the Shwegu Myoma police station, prompting families of police personnel to relocate to the township's military battalion for safety. Additionally, approximately 50 soldiers have been deployed to enhance security at the police station.
Shwegu residents reported that despite the reinforcement of Military Council troops for security, the Myoma police station continues to experience ongoing attacks.
The Shwegu Myoma police station was subjected to drone attacks three times in June, twice in July, and three times in August. During the attack on August 16th, there were casualties at the police station.
Based on accounts from local residents, the attack resulted in the loss or injury of four police officers, one of whom was a police commander.
