A team from the Burmese Motion Picture Association led by Patron U Aung Lwin and Joint Secretary Ko Phyo came to Maungdaw in Arakan State to offer their organizational relief aid to the survivors of the recent unrest in the area on Tuesday.
U Aung Lwin, the team leader, said they will give donations to rebuild eight Buddhist monasteries that were burned down during the recent violent attacks and distribute food aid to the survivors of those attacks in Maungdaw on their tour.
“On 1st July, about 50 actors and actresses led by the President of our organization personally came and donated 200 million Kyat to the survivors in Sittwe. We will make more than 200 million Kyat in donations for the survivors on this tour as well. We will also start rebuilding the eight Buddhist monasteries that were burned down in the recent violent attacks here in Maungdaw with Kyat 20 million and will raise more donations so that we can build the monasteries more strongly and magnificently”, said U Aung Lwin.
He said his team had personally visited the camps of survivors in the townships of Sittwe, Rathedaung and Buthidaung providing the relief aid including food before coming to Maungdaw.
“The Venerable Alotawpyiy Sayadaw planned our relief aid tours and we have been offering our aid to the survivors under his supervision. Arakanese Singer Mrat Khine Kyaw and local video teams have accompanied us on our tour. Yesterday, we donated bags of rice and stationeries for the children in Buthidaung as well”, he said.
He also said his team had travelled to Alaethankyaw in Maungdaw and donated 300 bags of rice and other essential items to the survivors in the village on 24 July.
According to U Aung Lwin, the Burmese Motion Picture Association has been providing aid not only to the Arakanese peoples, but also to other troubled people in other ethnic regions without racial discrimination among the Burmese ethnic groups. He said his organization had also travelled to Myitkyinar in Kachin State to provide relief aid on 2 July a day after they had made their donations to the survivors in Sittwe.
He also said he is very satisfied with and thankful to his colleagues and younger actors and actresses in his association for their selfless services in raising money and their self-contributions to the charities for their brethren ethnic peoples suffering from troubles in Burma.
He added that his organization is still raising charities and would continue providing relief aid to the people in the troubled ethnic regions in their country.
