Two police officers went missing from Sittwe

At least two police officers have gone missing from the Arakanese capital city of  Sittwe, informed the family sources.

The missing persons are identified as police sergeant Myint Naing (50 years old), who was serving at Ponna Kyunt town police station and police officer Han Tun (50) who serves border police forces (number Nakhaka-8) based in Buthidaung locality.

Myint Naing has gone missing since 8 July after delivering office documents to Sittwe district police station from Ponnagyun township police station.

On the other hand, Han Tun went missing after buying food items from the Sittwe market on Wednesday, stated his wife.

Daw Hla Win also added that Han Tun left for shopping in the afternoon and for some time he was available over phone. She informed that they were living in Sittwe for two years even though her husband used to work in Buthidaung township. She has already lodged a case and the police were also looking for him.

Han Tun initially served at the military training school in Min Bya township and later transferred to the police department two years back.

U Tun Maung, an upper house member from Ponna Kyunt Township confirmed the incident of missing. Later Sittwe township police chief Aung Naing Win also verified it. He added that the search was going on.

Earlier on 29 June, police sergeant Maung Maung Than was stabbed to death near to his house in Sittwe locality. Similarly, another police officer (Zaw Min Aung) was brutally stabbed on 13 June at Kyauk Taw locality on the bank of Kaladan river.

 A large number of families belong to the policemen in Rakhine expressed worries over their safety and securities as many police personnel were killed by miscreants in the recent past.
