Two Myanmar workers were brutally slashed to death in a durian plantation in Mueang, Chumphon District, Thailand, on the morning of February 14th, Thai media reported.
Ko Saw Maung, who helps Myanmar workers, said authorities found two Myanmar workers lying in a pool of blood with near-severed neck injuries in front of a tent in a durian farm, citing Thai media reports.
“I can't say what kind of feud caused such a brutal murder. Myanmar workers who come to work in Thailand may have various issues like drugs, financial problems, etc. There may be other problems”, he said.
U Mu Rein Maung (48) and U Khin Maung (58), who were working in a durian plantation in Group 8 area of Ban Nai Ngon village in Banna village tract, Mueang, were brutally killed. Two swords about one meter long were also found near their bodies.
The police colonel of Chumphon District himself visited the crime scene and commented that there may be 2 perpetrators. It seems that there was an argument when they were negotiating about something. He added that the perpetrators apparently cleaved the victims' necks and then slashed again as they fell.
In a separate incident, Bo Moe Hein, a 23-year-old resident of Bang Pu Nakhon Road, Bang Pu Mai Subdistrict, Samut Prakan Province, Thailand, was found dead of stab wounds in his room on February 12nd.
Thai police are still investigating the murders and no arrests have been made yet, Ko Saw Maung said.
