The Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD), a powerful ethnic political party, will hold its national conference from May 26 to 27 in Taunggyi, Shan State.
At the conference, the SNLD will elect 30 executive members, 70 central committee members, including the chairman, vice-chairman and general secretary, at the conference.
But they will not discuss election issues in accordance with the decision of the Central Executive Committee, SNLD spokesperson Sai Kyaw Nyunt told Than Lwin Times.“There is nothing special. According to our previous CEC decision, we will not discuss the election issues until the end of 2022. We have already decided not to talk about that,” he added.
The SNLD Central Executive Committee has decided not to discuss the election until the end of 2022.
The SNLD has been warned to suspend its political activities for three years for refusing to accept the party audit of the regime’s Union Election Commission (UEC), and the commission later postponed party audit until the end of June.
The SNLD announced that it does not accept military coup and that 42 of its elected representatives would continue to be recognized.
