Regime Seizes More Homes From Falam And Kalay Lawmakers

Last week, armed forces seized the homes of three National League for Democracy (NLD) MPs in Chin State and Sagaing Region.

Over the last few months, the dictatorship has seized many houses of MPs who were expelled during the coup almost a year ago and most of whom have gone into hiding, establishing the interim National Unity Government (NUG).

A local source, requesting anonymity, told Khonumthung News that armed forces left a notice on the house of MP Pu Ral Hnin warning against selling or buying it after seizing the property in Cin Mwa ward in Chin State’s Falam town, where he won a seat in parliament in both the 2020 and 2015 national elections.

In Kalay, the armed forces seized the houses of Aye Aye Mu (also known as Shar Mee), who was elected to the union parliament, and Thant Wai Kyaw, who was elected to the regional parliament. Both women had also won seats in the 2015 election.

On 12 January, the regime seized Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD) MP Pu Sheng Mang in Hakha. He was the only CNLD candidate to win a seat in the Chin State parliament for the 2020 election. Pu Sheng Mang’s son, the chief physician of Hakha Public Hospital, joined the protest movement against the dictatorship.

In late December, armed forces confiscated NLD MP Salai Myo Hteik’s property in Sami in Matupi Township located in Chin State.

In late October, the junta seized the property of Dr Lian H. Sakhaung, vice-chair for the Chin National Front and minister of NUG’s Federal Union Affairs, in Hakha.

On the same day, in the Chin State capital, the armed forces seized Pastor Van Cam’s residence in Kyawbok ward.
