PSLF/TNLA announces acceptance of Wa leaders’ leadership in politics and military

The Ta’ang (Palaung) National Liberation Army (TNLA/PSLF) based and active in Shan State, has issued a statement , that it will recognize and abide by the political and military leadership of the Wa leaders.

The above was written in the PSLF/TNLA congratulatory message sent to the 34th Wa Peace-Building Festival on April 17.

In addition, the PSLF/TNLA pledged to continue working alongside the Wa leaders as ‘blood brothers’ in pursuit of self-determination for the Mon-Khmer tribe, the Wa-Ta’ang and to advance the national political objectives.

However this cementing of ties between Wa and TNLA only increasing the EAO multi- ethnic schisms, and ensure that the Shan State continues to stand apart from the NUG vision of a revolutionary movement for building a federal democracy and the overthrow of the military junta.

The PSLF/TNLA’s message also emphasized the Wa government’s call in 2022 to refrain from using force in resolving internal conflicts and to instead seek solutions through political means. The PSLF/TNLA highlighted this call as a fundamental policy to be adopted in addressing the ongoing conflicts in Myanmar.

In addition, the message of the PSLF/TNLA states that the political and peace policies of the Wa state government are the basic policies that the PSLF/TNLA wants to see. The Ta’ang (Palaung) National Liberation Army (TNLA) is also a member of the FPNCC led by the United Wa State Army (UWSA).

In 1989, on April 17, the UWSA separated from the Burma Communist Party (BCP) and established the ‘Wa’ force, which has reached an understanding with various Myanmar junta’s and enjoys full autonomy in its region backed by a formidable 30,000 strong army armed and equipped by China.

The RSSF the major Shan army while in frequent armed conflict with TNLA, also has shown no interest in NUG/EAOs revolutionary movement.

A number of PDFs operate in southern Shan State as well as many CSOs. But the long

history but Shan people are very far finding a strong EAO or organization that can reflect the aspirations of many citizens to end the bitter feuds and unite under the federal banner based on a end to military rule.
