Seven people including U Aung Naing Win who is the chairman of Moe Charity Education Training School have been arrested in Taungup in Rakhine State and now they are still missing according to the family members.
U Aung Win Naing, 41 years old, chairman of the Moe Charity Education Training School, and six others were arrested by the Tatmadaw on the morning of June 5 at the Phon Nyo checkpoint on the Taungup-Thandwe Highway according to U Aung Win Naing's wife, Daw Twe Ta Soe.
It has been for more than a month that they have been detained, but no one knows where they are detained and they are missing.
"They are very worried at home. The arrest of a head of household has taken a heavy impact on the family. He is leading all the work. Since he has not been able to lead the work, everything for the living became difficult. If the children at home heard the sound of the car, they go and check always whether if there is their father.”
U Aung Win Naing has a nine-month-old baby and five-year-old daughter, and the other six detainees with him do not know.
She went to the police station on July 3 after receiving information that the detainees would be handed over to the Taungup police station, but her husband did not show up, she added.
Narinjara was asking U Hla Thein, a spokesman for the Rakhine State Administrative Council, at a press conference on July 9 regarding the arrest of U Aung Win Naing, but U Hla Thein replied he did not know.
"I do not know about it. I have read in the media that they were hand over to the police. I do not know what they are up to. If they are arrested at such a gate, they will be with the arresting organization. No one would be missing without arresting. Their families said they were arrested at Phon Nyo gate. If they were arrested by the police, they will be at the police station. If they were arrested by other organizations, they will be with them.”
Narinjara is contacting the police station in Taungup Township about the arrest of U Aung Win Naing but said they did not know about the case.
U Aung Win Naing, who was arrested was responsible at the Moe Charity Education Training School in Taungup and he was sorry for his arrest, Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Thirinanda told Narinjara.
The school aims to provide English language and computer training as well as agriculture training and opened in April this year.
