A woman was killed in a mine blast in Nam-tawng Village of Pang-hseng (Kyu Koke) under Muse Township, northern Shan State at around 3 pm on September 19.
The bomb exploded while two women were returning back to Nam-tawng Village from Pang-hseng Market, killing one woman and seriously injuring the other woman, according to a local resident.
“The blast took place while a coal truck and a motorcycle were passing the road. Two people on the motorcycle were taken to Muse Hospital after receiving serious injuries. One of them died at the hospital,” said the local resident.
The deceased woman was buried today and the other injured woman is currently receiving medical treatment at Muse Hospital.
There is high military tension between the Northern Alliance - Burma and the Tatmadaw in the area where the mine blast took place.
