Military Council Snatchs Body of Airstrike Victim

Residents reported that the body of a man, who lost his life due to the Military Council's airstrikes in Hseng Hkawng village near Nam Aum Village, Muse District, Shan State, was snatched by the Military Council.

On July 25th, around 11:00 am, the Military Council launched airstrikes and bombarded Hseng Hkawng village in an attack against the TNLA forces.

As a consequence of the airstrikes, at least 3 houses in Hseng Hkawng village were damaged, and at least 3 people were injured, including the host and his wife. Subsequently, a person who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons informed SHAN that the body of the deceased host, U Sai La, was snatched by the Military Council.

"The bomb struck their house directly, hitting the back of his head, and he was killed instantly. His wife sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The body of U Sai La was taken away from the house by Military Council troops this morning," he told SHAN on condition of anonymity.

The deceased, U Sai La, was over 40 years old, and his body was snatched by Military Council soldiers while his father was guarding it.

Additionally, the person who provided the information to SHAN mentioned that the Military Council soldiers, who snatched the body, also assaulted the father who was guarding it and proceeded to destroy items inside the house.

He further continued, "His father, who didn't speak Burmese very well, asked where his son's body was going to be taken. Despite kneeling down and apologizing, they cruelly slapped him across the face with a rope and snatched the body. It was heartbreaking and painful."

The whereabouts of U Sai La's body remain unknown, and residents reported that shortly after the first column left, another column of the Military Council arrived and positioned itself on a hill near Hseng Hkawng village.

As of today, no gunshots have been heard, but the military tensions between the Military Council and the TNLA persist, and the residents are anxious that the fighting may resume.
