Faced with losses in the battles, the military council in Mon State is lobbying to send retired veterans to the front line with additional salaries, sources close to the military told Than Lwin Times.

Fighting between the military council and revolutionary forces intensified in some regions and states after the National Unity Government (NUG) declared the start of the People's Resistance War in September last year.

A family member of a retired veteran said that the military council is organizing to send veterans to where junta armed forces clashed with ethnic armed groups and local PDFs.

If they serve on the front lines, they will be awarded 200,000 to 1,000,000 kyast in addition to their pension. It is reported that the veterans can voluntarily register by the second week of October.

A retired veteran's family member also said that none of the veterans were willing to list their names because the soldiers on the front line were suffering a lot.

The military council has organized military supporters, military family members, party members, reserve fire forces, and anyone over the age of 18 to register to join the military in order to meet the needs of the military.

The military council also stated that the new recruits will receive three months of military training, as well as salaries and property.

The leaked document of the Security, Peace, and Rule of Law Committee meeting on August 18 revealed that coup leader Min Aung Hlaing directed the formation of a security team composed of military, police, militia, and veterans.

The military leader directed the formation of these groups, known as local security organizations, primarily in the states of Sagaing and Magway Regions and Chin and Kayah States.

According to recently leaked documents, some retired majors and captains were appointed as commanders and deputy commanders of the Border Guard Forces on August 6 with the approval of the Ministry of Defense.
