Military Council Kills Two Elderly People and a Student At Shan-Karenni Border

According to a report from Battalion 2 of the Pekon People's Defense Forces, troops from the Military Council conducted an offensive operation on an IDP camp located on the Shan-Karenni border. During the operation, two grandparents, aged 81 and 78, were burned to death, and a seventh-grade student was shot and killed.

"People are being used as human shields. Two grandparents were also burned to death. A child of school age was also killed. There were many casualties on both sides," a Pekon People's Defense Battalion 2 official told the Kantarawaddy Times.

78-year-old U Hla Nyein, 81-year-old Daw Mulu, and 15-year-old Maung Kyaw Hu, a 7th grade student, were killed by the Military Council, according to reports.

On March 12, the 66th Division launched an offensive operation at an IDP  camp on the east bank of the Shan-Karenni border, arresting some elderly people and children and using them as human shields, according to the statement. It is reported that 3 of the arrested IDPs were killed and some IDPs escaped.

Currently, the battle between the Military Council and the joint forces continues to be intense. The Military Council is reportedly using civilians as human shields, according to the source.

On March 12th, joint forces engaged in a fierce battle with the Military Council at 3:00 p.m. in an effort to rescue the IDPs. The Pekon-based Battalion and Battalion 422 reportedly launched an attack using a large number of artillery shells. At 5:30 p.m., the Military Council carried out three attacks, utilizing two warplanes.

During the battle, the Military Council reportedly suffered a number of casualties, including a sergeant and a vice-sergeant. Four bodies of Military Council soldiers and some military equipment were seized by the joint forces. The exact death toll of the Military

While attempting to evacuate the IDPs during the fighting, one member of Pekon PDF Battalion 2 and two members of KNDF Battalion 3 were killed. Additionally, six members of the joint forces were injured.
