Mass resignations from local administration in Rathedaung Rakhine State

A total of 20 administrators from 19 village tracts in the Ku Taung area of Rathedaung township of Rakhine state ,submitted their resignations on December 16th.

This spate of resignations are based on several factors according to one of the administrators who just resigned. He told Narinjara.

1 ) first the public is hostile to the Junta-installed administrators;

2) it is  difficult to work with two rivals, the United League of Arakan (ULA) and the Junta Regime

3) The ULA no longer want to work under the Military Council

He explained further that, “ The most fundamental reason is that there are many difficulties in serving as a community administrator at this time. And some villagers do not like us. Also the fact that ULA is already in charge of management here is another reason. We also do not want to continue working under the Military Council.  There are many difficulties in working between the ULA and the Junta Regime. Therefore we submitted our resignation letters in our own consent.”.

Narinjara is still trying to ask Rathedaung township administrati vew regarding the resignation of many village and community level administrators.

In a similar incident, the administrators of 70 out of 96 villages in Ponnagyun Township of Rakhine State submitted their resignation en masse on November 15th.
