KNDF Captures 4 Regime Soldiers Involved in Mo So Massacre

The Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) captured four regime soldiers, including a sergeant and two corporals from the 108th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the 66th Infantry Division, during fighting in Dokkami village in Demoso Township, Karenni State.

According to the KNDF spokesperson, the men were involved in the Mo So massacre, in which over 40 civilians fleeing the fighting in Hpruso Township were burnt alive on Christmas Eve, 2021.

“More than 20 junta soldiers from the 108th Infantry Battalion died in the fighting. At this stage, we cannot say what will happen to the POWs,” the KNDF spokesperson said, describing the armed group's recent success on the battlefield as a “coincidence” to avenge the senseless killing of civilians. “After one year, we have managed to exterminate about 20 soldiers who committed this crime. We dedicate the KNDF’s victory to the innocent people who died.”

The KNDF also seized a MG-3 machine gun, a rocket launcher, four MA-1 and three MA-3 rifles, a MA-4 rifle with attached grenade launcher, two 60mm mortars, ammunition, computer, several phones and other military equipment.

During Monday's massive offensive in Dokkami village against the 108th IB Battalion, the fighting started at 9 am and continued throughout the day, forcing the Danubyu-based unit to call for air support several times, after experiencing high casualties. At the same time, theKarenni People's Defence Force were fighting regime soldiers in nearby villages .

Fierce clashes also occurred near Thay Su Le and Nan Me Khon in Demoso Township in late November and in other areas, but Kantarawaddy Times couldn't independently confirm exactly where all of the violence has happened.

Predicting more fighting to come, KNDF has warned the public to avoid travelling around KoneTha, Thay Su Le, Dokkami and Nan Me Khon villages.
