The Wetlet Informational Network reported that two local men from Takaungmin Village, located in western part of Wetlet Township in the Sagaing Region, were killed by Junta troops and several more villages burnt down

Since the military coup February 2021 - May 2023, more than 3,400 homes have been burned down by the Military Council troops in Wetlet Township, forcing thousand  local residents to flee from over 20 villages.

 An official from the Wetlet Informational Network said that troops from the Military Council in Wetlet Township conducted a raid on Takaungmin Village, resulting in the arrest and subsequent killing of two local men. "On June 21, the column burned down Mugyi village and entered Wetlet Township. The next day, around 9:30 a.m., they reached Takaungmin village, where they shot and killed two men from the village. The bodies were found, suggesting that the victims were caught and killed while trying to run away," he explained.

On June 22 at approximately 9:00 in the morning, Military Council troops entered the village and reportedly carried out the arrest and killing of the two local men, according to reports.

The Wetlet official also stated that 15 houses, 9 motorcycles, and 1 car were set on fire and destroyed. Additionally, two other local men who were taken hostage during the incident have not been heard from since..

According to the Wetlet Defense Force, the Military Council troops deployed in two separate columns and carried out combat operations, and burned down villages, in the western and northern regions of Sagaing Township, as well as in the western part of Wetlet Township. This led to approximately 20 villages being forced to evacuate and seek safety due to the escalating violence.

"One of the two columns is heading towards Shwebo, while the other has already arrived at Sagaing. When the troops approach from the south, the locals are escaping towards the north, whereas if the troops are advancing from the north, the locals are fleeing towards the south. Many individuals are seeking refuge in monasteries and schools," he said.

Residents have reported that Takaungmin Village, comprising around 200 houses, is frequently subjected to raids by Military Council troops. The village is located just 15 minutes away from Wetlet Township by motorbike, according to the residents.

Additionally, The Association of Accurate Information (Wetlet) has also reported the two people from Takaungmin Village were brutally killed by military council troops, and the village was burnt down.

According to the latest report of the Institute for Strategy and Policy - Myanmar (ISP - Myanmar) on June 14, more than 8,600 civilians have been killed across Myanmar since the military coup.
