Husband and Wife Arrested with Explosives in Nyaung Shwe Township, Military Council Announces

The Military Council has announced the arrest of a couple residing in Mong Li 5 Ward, Nyaung Shwe Township, Shan State, for possession of explosives and ammunition.

On April 5, Lay Lwin Myo (aka) Ko Myo and his wife Khine Zar Win were apprehended by the Military Council for possessing explosives and ammunition. The couple, who reside in Mong Li 5 Ward of Nyaung Shwe Township, were accused by the Military Council of being the masterminds behind the Inle Floating Thingyan bombing.

A woman close to them said, "They are not legally arrested. They are not arrested based on evidence. All suspects are arrested. They are tortured. They extort money. Some of them are killed. This kind of act is inhumane, a crime that a normal person does not dare to commit easily. It is also a kind of abstract crime," said a woman close to them.

The details of the charges against the couple who were arrested by the Military Council are not yet known.

Furthermore, following the military coup in Myanmar, the Military Council has been committing heinous acts of violence against innocent civilians, including torture and murder. Despite the gravity of the situation, international organizations have not taken sufficient measures to address the issue, leaving the people of Myanmar to endure the military's brutal oppression.

"Because the international organization could not take effective action against this terrorist group, which is an international war criminal, the people of Myanmar are still suffering the effects of their violence," the woman added.

The Military Council troops seized several items, including one air gun, six handmade claymore mines, eight various handmade mines, two handmade shotguns, and one handmade slingshot. In addition, they also found eight PVC pipes, six steel ropes, one welding machine, and one drill tool, 10 ticals of sulfur, 25 ticals of gunpowder, and 10 ticals of charcoal powder, which are commonly used in the production of handmade mines.

The Military Council statement revealed that the individual who was arrested, Lay Lwin Myo (aka) Ko Myo, had attended a month-long explosives training program at Inle PDF Battalion 1009, and learned how to make and detonate hand-made mines.
