About 170 houses in three villages were burnt down in one day in Shwebo

Locals reported that Military Council troops burned down about 170 houses in Shwebo township, Sagaing region in one day on November 29. The Junta forces alleged the residents of the three villages were supporting the revolutionary forces, and then resorted to this arson attack.

Around 7:00 AM that day, a 130-strong Military Council unit divided into 3 columns, entered the Nyaung Pin Thar village tract, subsequently burning houses in the three villages of Kan Thar Kone, Bo Hte Kone and Kyee Kan around noon, a villager said.

When the Military Council troops invaded the village tract of Nyaung Pin Thar, two revolutionary fighters who resisted and engaged in defending the villages, were wounded by artillery shelling.

The KNG were informed by locals that “ the Junta solders split up into column and entered the villages around 7:00 in the morning.There were also shootouts with the vigilante groups in the village.

A total of 170 houses in three villages were burned down. The villages are located very close to each only apart by the small streets and creeks”, he told KNG.

The residents of the three villages were able to flee before the soldiers arrived in the village, so there were no civilian casualties.

The Nyaung Pin Thar village tract consists of over 4000 houses and is located 14 miles northwest of Shwebo township.
