AA Seizes Junta's 55th Infantry Battalion in Thandwe, Magyichaung Outpost in Maungdaw

The Arakha Army (AA) has successfully captured the junta's 55th Infantry Battalion base located in Ngapali, a resort town in Thandwe Township, and the Magyichaung military outpost in Maungdaw Township, Arakan (Rakhine) State.

AA has seized control of two key military installations belonging to the junta in the townships that have seen the most intense fighting in recent days in Arakan State.

AA announced the full capture of the junta's 55th Infantry Battalion, one of the junta’s remaining fortifications in Thandwe, by 9:45 AM on July 9.

AA also confiscated a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.

According to AA, the Magyichaung outpost, situated near the entrance of Maungdaw town close to the No. 5 Myothugyi Border Guard Police (BGP-5) camp, was captured at 9:40 AM on July 11.

AA claimed to have found the bodies of junta troops, seized a significant quantity of weapons, ammunition, and equipment inside the outpost, and captured several prisoners of war (PoWs).

Other junta battalion troops, who had abandoned their positions due to AA's offensive, were also deployed at the Magyichaung outpost. However, AA has now taken control of that location as well.

According to witnesses cited in the AA statement, approximately 30 junta soldiers fled into the Bangladeshi border in boats.

Currently, AA is mounting aggressive attacks on the Myothugyi BGP-5 camp, the junta's final stronghold in Maungdaw. Meanwhile, the junta is hastily fortifying the downtown areas of Maungdaw to stave off complete loss of the town.
