66 Myanmar Workers Arrested in Thailand for Failure to Report Guest List

Investigation revealed that 66 workers from Myanmar had been arrested at a leased apartment located in the Samut Sakhon (also known as Mahachai), located in the Samut Sakhon province of Thailand. The reason for their arrest was due to their failure to report the guest lists.

A Myanmar worker residing in Thailand reported that on the morning of March 9, Thai police conducted a raid on a rented apartment housing Myanmar workers. As a result, 66 of these workers were arrested for not reporting a list of guests staying at the apartment.

"The Thai police have the right to check. They check whether there are illegal workers in the townships and neighborhoods. Today, they raided and arrested 66 Myanmar workers who were not on the guest list," he said.

The guest list is reported by the tenant to the owners of the apartment, and through that, the apartment owners report to the Thai Immigration Office.

Failure to report the guest list may result in a fine of 4,000 to 6,000 Thai baht for apartment renters.
