At least 45 Burma Army soldiers were killed and 20 wounded in armed clashes in different areas of Chin State over the first 10 days of February, according to the Chin National Front (CNF), the political wing of the Chin National Army (CNA).
During the clashes, Chin resistance groups captured more than 50 assault rifles as well as ammunition, grenades and an anti-drone weapon.
The CNF reported that three Chin resistance soldiers were killed and two were wounded during the clashes.
From 1 to 11 February, multiple Chin resistance groups engaged in armed clashes with the Burma Army in the Zotung region of Matupi Township and in Thangtlang Township.
In Matupi Township, combined forces of the CNA, the Matupi Chinland Defense Force (Matupi CDF), the Zotung Chinland Defense Force (Zotung CDF), and the Mara Chinland Defense Force (Mara CDF) had multiple clashes with the Burma Army.
The fighting in the Zotung region of Matupi Township (CNF/CAN’s Brigade-1) lasted for six consecutive days starting on 4 February. At least 40 Burma Army soldiers were killed and more than 20 Burma Army soldiers were wounded.
In Thangtlang Township (CNF/CNA’s Brigade-3) combined forces of the CNA and Thangtlang Chinland Defense Force (Thangtlang CDF) engaged in sporadic clashes with the Burma Army.
On 1 February, Chin resistance groups captured six policemen alive with their weapons in Thangtlang Township. On 8 February, the CNA and Thangtlang CDF seized the police station and General Administration Department office in Thangtlang town.
During their raid on the police station, the Chin resistance groups captured 40 assault rifles as well as grenades, ammunition and an anti-drone weapon.
Elsewhere in Chin State, combined forces of the CNA and Hualngoram Chinland Defense Force (Hualngoram CDF) ambushed the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), which is backed by the Burma Army, near Lai Thwi village in Falam Township (CNF/CNA’s Brigade-4) on 4 February. One ZRA soldier was killed and two were wounded during the clash.
The CNF reported that the Burma Army’s jet fighters and combat helicopters launched air attacks on Chin resistance groups in Chin state 10 times during the period of 1 February to 12 February.
Burma Army soldiers based on a strategic hill in Hakha Township also attacked Thangtlang town with artillery fire.
