Sittwe: Three more elected Arakanese representatives from the Rakhine National Development Party were charged with complaints by the USDP last week, bringing the number of elected representatives from the RNDP facing complaints from the USDP to nine, said a party source.

The three elected representatives from Mray Bon Township, 68 miles from the state capital Sittwe, had complaints filed against them by their rival candidates from the USDP last week. The three representatives from the RNDP are U Pe Than, a representative from the people's parliament, U Aung Win, and U Maung Lon, both from the Rakhine State parliament in Mray Bon Township.

The USDP had already lodged complaints against five elected representatives from the RNDP, including U Own Tin, a national parliament representative from Kyauk Pru, U Kyaw Lwin, a state parliament representative in Kyauk Pru Township, U Kyaw Tun Aung, a national parliament representative in Pauk Taw, U Aung Kyaw Za, a people's parliament representative, and U Maung Kyaw Thein, a representative from the state parliament in Pauk Taw Township.

Dr Aye Maung, chairman of the party, confirmed the complaints had been filed, but stated that he did not know why the USDP has been filing complaints against his elected members. While the junta authority is preparing to hold the first parliament session in more than 20 years this month, elected representatives have been facing complaints file by USDP one after the other.

The RNDP won 34 seats in Arakan State in the election that was held on 7 November, 2010.
