Paletwa: A team of doctors have travelled to a village in southern Chin State to examine persons reportedly infected by the H1N1 virus, said a health worker from Paletwa, a town in southern Chin State.

"Some doctors from Paletwa Township hospital went to Than Daung Village in Paletwa Township a few days ago to carry out a medical checkup of some people infected with the H1N1 virus," he said.

A hospital source said three members of a family with connections to the local Than Daung police were infected with the H1N1 virus. After the infection was reported, the medical team left for the village to investigate.

"The patients are hospitalized at the village dispensary and they are now being treated by medical officer Myint Oo, who is in-charge of the Than Daung Village rural dispensary," he said.

The medical team will also examine other villagers in Than Daung, as it is likely that others have also been infected with the virus. In early February, four people were found to be infected with the H1N1 influenza virus in a village in Falam in Chin State.
