Maungdaw -The body of a model villager was found by authorities with several injuries in a village of Maungdaw Township on July 23. The reason behind the murder is still  not known, said a model villager

The victim was identified as U Ba Thein (43) son of U Pwe Rar Aung from Pae Yon Natala Village in southern Maungdaw near the western border of Burma with Bangladesh.

The Rayaka chairman of Pae Yon Village found the body with five stab wounds in Gwa Son Village near Pae Yon, a local source said.

The village chairman said the murder in all likelihood occurred on July 21 in the village, and it may have been the fallout of a land dispute between the victim and a local Muslim villager.

The body was sent by police to the Maungdaw hospital for an autopsy. There have been no arrests yet.

Murders have increased recently in Maungdaw Township along the western border of Burma, with at least three other people having been killed in the township not long before this case.
