The first central committee meeting of new found Arakan National Party (ANP) was completed on Wednesday in Sittwe with some major resolutions.
After combination of two major Arakan based political parties namely Rakhine National Development Party (RNDP) and Arakan League for Democracy (ALD), it was ANP’s first important meeting, said U Aye Tha Aung.
U Aye Tha Aung from ALD was selected as Pha (top/first) leader of ANP, where as Dr Aye Maung from RNDP was nominated as the second important leader in the party.
Mentionable is that RNDP won 34 Parliamentary seats in 2010 general election from Arakan, where as 11 candidates belonged to ALD succeeded in 1990 Burma election.
ANP’s first central committee meeting in Sittwe on 23 to 25 March 2014 was attended by 30 central executive committee members. Nearly hundred central committee members also joined in the discussion to take resolutions on various issues relating to politics, security, peace & development of Arakan.
The ANP leaders have decided to participate in the next general election of Burma and the party has also resolved to put candidatures in the coming by-election for three Parliamentary seats of Arakan scheduled for the end of 2014.
The central leaders have already decided to organize the first ANP conference in September this year with an aim to elect its president, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary with other important posts and executive members.
They are also preparing to combine all the offices belonged to RNDP and ALD across Arakan to carry out their activities most affectively.
