Arakan National Party to apply for registration under Burma Election Commission

The registration process from new found Arakan National Party (ANP) with the Union election commission of Burma has started as the leaders from two major Arakanese political parties have agreed for unification and signed the prescribed application.

The agreement was materialized in the meeting held in Rangoon, the former capital of Burma on  October 7 and 8 last, where senior leaders from both the Arakan League for Democracy (ALD) and the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP) were present.

Fifteen delegates from each party resolved in the meeting to combine their parties into a  single political forum named Arakan National Party.

Dr Aye Maung, president of RNDP led its 15 member delegation in the meeting where as U Aye Tha Aung, president of ALD led the ALD delegation.

The ALD president of ALD informed that they have agreed to register the new party (ANP) with the Burma election commission such that they can carry out various activities for the Arakan affairs in the political forum.

The  party leaders also approved the constitution of ANP In the meeting.

Many Arakanese people in and out of the country had urged the party leaders to combine their parties into a solo political entity to carry out Arakan affairs unitedly, following which they sat down and finally resolved for combining both the Arakan based political parties.
