A villager of a Burmese model village in Maungdaw township was hospitalized Saturday in the village clinic following an attack on him by some Muslim villagers in the western Burma border locality.

The victim has been identified as Ko Aung Than, son of U Shwe Lon & Daw Khin Mya from Kharay Myint model village in the southern part of Maungdaw.

Aung Than was stabbed by a group of Muslim goons near his village when he was looking for frogs at night with other eight villagers in the inundated firm land nearby the village graveyard.

Over 100 Muslim villagers from a village nearby the Buddhist graveyard arrived in the location, when Aung Than and his fellow villagers were searching for frogs at around 9 pm.

Once the Muslim goons chased the model villagers, they ran away from the location. But Aung Than could not run fast and he was stabbed on his back with a sharp item by the group.

Aung Than still escaped and arrived in his village at around 10 pm. Soon he was rushed to village clinic by his family members. A resident of Kharay Myint model village, who wanted anonymity, informed that the authority has begun investigation into the matter, but prohibited the villagers against disclosing about the incident to outsiders as well as the media.
