Yangon: U Ba Tin who received serious injuries in an attack by a gang of miscreants was moved to Yangon from Sittwe hospital to get better treatment, relatives said.

“His condition has not improved in Sittwe hospital. So he was moved to Yangon general hospital to get better treatment on 13 February,” said a relative of his.
U Ba Tin who is the village administrator of Wra Thit village under Nga Khu Ra village tract in northern Maungdaw Township on the western Burmese border was attacked by a gang of miscreants at midnight of February 10.
In the attack, U Maun Aye, age 54, who visited U Ba Tin’s house from Sittwe was killed and another three people including U Ba Tin are seriously injured.
The attackers entered U Ba Tin’s house on the day pretending to be Nasaka forces and killed him with swords and locally made guns. However, U Ba Tin luckily managed to escape from the attack with serious injuries.
“We suspected the attackers are Muslims. They entered U Ba Tin’s house and called him to come down in Burmese like the Nasaka force. When U Ba Tin went down to the ground from a ladder, the miscreants chopped him. When he ran away from the spot, the miscreants shot him again with guns,” said the relative.
U Ba Tin escaped but he received serious injuries. The family members hospitalized him firstly at Maungdaw Township hospital but later moved to Sittwe general hospital.
In Sittwe hospital, his condition did not improve. So he was moved to Yangon by air again.
U Zaw Aye Maung, a minister for Arakanese affairs in Yangon division, visited the hospital to see U Ba Tin just after U Ba Ti n arrived at Yangon hospital.
