Union Minister for Education Dr Khin San Yee said that her education ministry will spend K110 billion (US$110 million) for 12 projects under the “Quick Wins” plan for Myanmar’s education sector in the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
Speaking during a seminar on reform plans for the education sector held from September 28 to 30 at Yangon University, she said the educational reforms will include upgrading some 3,000 primary schools, particularly in far-flung areas, and the launch of kindergarten classes in 40,000 primary schools.
A total of 2,000 news classrooms will be constructed at the middle and high school level in remote areas, she added.
Dr Khin San Yee said these “Quick Wins” will be implemented effectively and more discussions will be conducted on the plan in the future.
Further plans for education depend on the outcome of the draft National Education Bill.
