Since the national ‘Anti-Corruption Law’, was enacted in August 2013, legal proceedings have been undertaken by the Yangon Region Government on only one allegation of bribery, Yangon Region Minister for Border Security and Home Affairs, Colonel Tin Win told the Yangon Region Hluttaw on September 23.

The Minister was responding to a question posed by U Thaung Kyaw MP (Yangon Region Hluttaw, Union Solidarity and Development Party, Yankin Township), who said he was dissatisfied with the lack of information provided by the regional government on such legal proceedings.

Before answering Col. Tin Win conferred with Yangon Region Chief Minister, U Myint Swe.

“The regional government has taken legal action on one case of bribery, but the judicial body knows more about the case than we do,” answered the Colonel.
