The 88 Generation Peace and Open Society introduced a music album titled, “Blue Years”, referring to the blue-colored prison uniform, on September 26 at a press conference in Yangon.
The songs in the album have been composed by Mya Aye, a member of the 88 Generation Peace and Open Society, during his many years of imprisonment by the military junta.
The 88 Generation Peace and Open Society members — Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi, Pyone Cho, and Htay Kywe — Win Maw (Shwe Thanzin Music Band), singers and special invitees attended the event.
Speaking at the press conference, Ko Ko Gyi said, “Despite moans and wails in the prison, the songs blossomed.” On a lighter note he told the audience, “Despite Mya Aye’s unattractive physical appearance, he has published poems, songs and books. Although I am fond of the creative arts, I do not sing because I am afraid that singers will dislike one more competitor.”
Mya Aye said that the album includes both political and love songs. The songs in the album were sung by D Mon, Zaung, and No Way. Bo Bo Entertainment will release the album officially on October 5, at the Yankin center.
