The seized land Investigation Commission said that they are facing problems while investigating land seized by the military, since they do not have permission from superior military authorities.
“We did not get land records, table records and evidence that are crucial to our investigation as we were told that we do not have permission from military superiors. Our investigation will not be fair since the military has replied that they have to submit a report to their superior in Naypyitaw who is now in the Parliament”, said U Sai Tun Sein, Head of the Investigation Commission
According to records from the commission, they have investigated about 30 seized land cases from September 3-4 in Taungyi Region.
“We have been waiting for a long time to report our seized land and investigations on it. I am glad that they have come to meet with us and investigate”, said a Pa Oh ethnic whose land was seized.
The commission will send reports of their findings to the Chairman of the Union Parliament through the Chairman of ‘Cultivation Land and other Grabbed Land Investigation Commission’.
The commission has also inspected 15 cases from Pa Oh region while investigating Taunggyi.
They said apart from the military, three thousand acres of land was also seized by the Pa Oh National Organization (PNO), one of the ethnic armed groups in Myanmar.
After investigations in Taunggyi, the commission will investigate in Eastern Shan State, Kyaing Tone and Tachileik.
