Sergeant Ayaing Aung, a twenty-five year old TNLA corporal on military leave was arrested when he was travelling back to see a sick relative in his village Mam Mauk Tantay. He was interrogated and then killed by Light Infantry Battalion 130 soldiers. Major Mine Bone Kyaw, the secretary of the Palaung State Liberation Front, said the sergeant was granted leave because one of his family members was seriously ill.

According to international laws and regulations governing prisoners of war (POW), the Burma Army shouldn’t have killed Ayaing Aung, said Major Mine Bone Kyaw

Sergeant Ayaing Aung’s body was dumped in the jungle. His family later retrieved his corpse and gave him a proper burial.
