Armed Karen forces launched two surprise attacks on soldiers of the Burmese Army traveling near Kanellay Military Camp in the Wor Lay area of Karen State yesterday. Seven Burmese soldiers were killed, while three received injuries.

“Our soldiers surprised them (Burmese soldiers) with an attack near the Kanellay Military Camp. We attacked them the first time at 5:20 a.m., and the second time at around 7:30 a.m. Seven Burmese soldiers were killed and three got hurt. Nobody was hurt from our side,” Maj. Saw Kyi Aung, Second Commander of KNLA Battalion no. 201, told KIC.

According to Maj. Saw Kyi Aung, there are 17 horses in the Kanellya Camp used for transporting food rations for soldiers.

Currently, soldiers from Burmese Army’s LIB 346, 544, and IB 310 are based and patrolling around near Kanellay Camp.
