The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) launched attacks against the Burmese Army in the KNU’s Brigade No. 7 controlled-area on 15 March by using guerilla tactics. According to the KNLA, three troopers from the Burmese Army—including a battalion commander—were hurt.

The KNLA forces under the KNLA’s Brigade 7 attacked the Burmese Army’s Light Infantry Battalion 546 under the MOC 12 at 5:30 a.m. on 15 March. Brigadier Gen. Saw Jonny, Commander of KNLA Brigade 7, confirmed that a battalion commander and two corporals from the Burmese Army received injuries in the gun battle.

“The gun battle started at around 5:30 a.m. It only lasted a few minutes. Our troopers from Battalions no. 19 and no. 21 shot at the Burmese soldiers when they approached us. The commander of LIB 546 and two corporals got hurt in the battle. One corporal was seriously injured and is in critical condition,” Brigadier Gen. Saw Jonny said.

One day earlier, KNLA forces exchanged gunfire with the Border Guard Force (BGF) led by DKBA Commander Maj. Mouk Thon on 14 March at around 1 p.m. Although it is rumored that there were some BGF casualties, the exact number is still unknown.
