The Union Election Commission (UEC) has rejected some portions of the Chin National Party’s draft content for the poll campaign on television and radio. The content is related to the interest and rights of ethnics. It was, however, permitted by the State Election Commission.

“The portions of the content that that the Union Election Commission has rejected are related to the right to build churches in Chin State, the right to worship, the right to learn the Chin language in government primary schools in Chin State and the right to organize more Non Government Organizations (NGOs) in Chin state,” said Pu Zozam, President of CNP.

The UEC is yet to give any reason for rejecting the portions. The Chin National Party (CNP) leaders will appear on Burmese television on October 3 and 21.

It is learnt that before rejecting CNP’s draft content, the UEC had rejected some of the content of the Democratic Party, the Union of Myanmar National Politics and 88 generation students.

The UEC has allowed all official political parties to appear on television for 15 minutes each in keeping with a schedule, which was circulated on September 20.
