Pu Enok an independent candidate is eyeing a seat in the Parliament and will contest the elections from Kalemyo, Sagaing division in the forthcoming 2010 general elections in Burma on November 7.

“I am taking a step forward to contest the election for the Chin people. There are a lot of things to be done,” he said.

Pu Enok, a MA degree holder, lives in Kalemyo with his four family members. He has a business in Chin traditional dresses and a textile shop.

“Pu Enok is a person much admired and he is the information secretary of two Christian churches. It is good for Chin people that he is contesting the polls,” said a teacher in Kalemyo.

Pu Enok’s native place is Hriang Hnang village in Falam Township, Chin state and he is known to be an active nationalist.

“He is very active as a nationalist and he is made chairman at the Chin National Day every year,” said a college student in Kalemyo.

Meanwhile, Pu Nothankap, President of the Chin Progressive Party will contest for a seat in Parliament from Kalemyo, Sagaing division. The USDP and NUP are also contesting from Kalemyo.
