Gearing up to contest the forthcoming elections in Burma the Chin Progressive Party has opened sub-offices in six townships in Chin state, and in Kalemyo, Sagaing division.

The party has also formed township level working committees in Falam town, Tamu and Kalemyo of Sagaing division. It also opened sub-offices in these towns recently.

The township level working committee in Tamu town was formed on 12 July, and it elected members of the committee. They are Pu Thang Kho Hau (Thado) - President, Pu Sui Ling (Falam) - Vice- President -1, Pu Kai Khan Lun (Zo) – Vice. President, Pu Kham Do En (Tedim) - General Secretary, Pu Mang Lian Pau (Zo) - Joint Secretary, Pu Thawng Kho Hau (Thado) - Joint Secretary-2, Pu Mal Sawm (Flm) for Joint Secretary-3, Pu Lun Khenkap Thang (Tedim) - Treasurer, Pu Let Kho Hau (Thado) - Assistant Treasurer.

Similarly, in Kalemyo a CPP working committee was setup on 7 July and a sub-office was also opened, said Pu Nothankap. “The party office was opened in front of a tea shop on Bo Goyke Street, Satawm block in Kalemyo and we appointed three persons as office assistants,” he added.

Members of the CPP township level working committee in Kalemyo are Pu Van Kim (President), Pu KT Ngo Za Lian (Vice President), Pu Hrang Sum (Vice President), Pu Sung Lawm Thang (Secretary), Pu Hrang Laan (Joint Secretary), Pu Thang Sa Vung (Joint Secretary), Pu Sui Than Ce (Treasurer), Pu Tin Kap (Joint Treasurer) and Pu Hrang UK (Finance Secretary). There are 23 members in all.

The Chin Progressive Party will hold a conference on 13 and 14 August where party leaders will be selected.

The party has already formed township level committees in southern Chin state and Pu Cho Maung Maung was made the party’s office in-charge for Kanpalet Township, Pu Shing Thun was made office in-charge for Mindat Township and Pu Sun Thaih for Paletwa Township.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that CPP sub-offices in Hakha and Thantlang Township will be opened as soon as the office in-charge under treatment in Yangon city it is back.

The Chin National party (CNP) has also formed a township level committee in Thantlang Township in Chin state but is yet to open a party sub-office there. However, the party has begun its poll campaign in Chin state.
