Chin people abroad held an emergency meeting about the Chin National Front (CNF) where 50 people attended, including Mr. Zincung, chairman of the CNF on July 17 in Indianapolis, United State of America.

“Chin leaders, youth groups, church leaders and former CNF leaders in the USA, interested in the activities of the Chin National Front (CNF) participated,” Mr. Thla Hlei, Regional Committee Chairman and Central Committee Member told Khonumthung News.

The meeting mainly focussed on the CNF’s stance about the current political situation in Burma; its weaknesses and strengths, given the Chin National Front (CNF) represents the Chin people as a whole as part of the national movement. The meeting was called for all Chin people abroad, since they too had some responsibilities.

The meeting adopted a resolution to keep CNF active and to impart political knowledge and awareness among Chin people.

“I am very confident that we are for our national movement as this meeting proves. At the same time the movement being discussed is on the right track,” said Mr. Zincung.

The Chin National Front has Regional Committees in 10 countries including in the USA and has been cooperating with Chin people in Burma. At the same time, it has had tie ups with other ethnic armed groups in Burma for over 20 years.

Between 21 and 24 May 2010, it was agreed that CNF and other ethnic armed groups like the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), New Mon State Party (NMSP), Karen National United (KNU) and Kareni National Progressive Party (KNPP) would join hands against the military junta if there are clashes between any ethnic armed group and civil militia of the military government.
