8 July 2010: Political parties keen on contesting this year’s general elections in Burma are gearing up to be in the poll fray. The Chin Progressive Party (CPP), for instance set up a township level working committee on June 29 at the CPP office in Falam town in Chin state western Burma.

The party has selected 11 leaders, 17 members and two coordinators for the working committee at a meeting attended by 100 people.

The meeting appointed pu Nosun as chairman of the township level working committee, assistant chairman (1) is pu Nahthang, assistant chairman (2) is pu Nunluai; pu Hrangtinduh is General secretary, Nula Phunzing is assistant general secretary (1), pu Liandailo is assistant general secretary (2), pu Zaduhlian is assistant general secretary (3), pu Thangkio is treasurer, Tv. Lalukthang is assistant treasurer, and pu Khuphre is the auditor.

The township level working committee assistant chairman (1) pu Nahthang said, “Our meeting was very meaningful and it will help us win in Falam township in the election. We will select the candidates for Parliament in the ensuing party conference.”

The Chin Progressive Party (CPP) can organize the selection of township level working committee in Falam Township only.

Local people believe that the CPP could be in a wining position in the election, as there are many responsible persons and prominent citizens in the party.

The CPP office has been opened at the residence of pu Consum, which is the old office of the Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD)party in Balai block, Falam town. Meanwhile, the Chin National Party (CNP) is yet to start activities in Chin state. – Khonumthung News.
